About Us
Hi, I am Kelly McAtee, and I run Things To Do.
Things To Do started with a simple frustration I kept hearing from friends, neighbors, and honestly from myself: there was always something happening around town, but nobody could tell you where to find it all in one place. A concert would be announced on one page, a festival on another, a charity fundraiser buried in a group comment thread. Great events were happening every single weekend, and people were missing them simply because the information was scattered everywhere.
So I decided to fix that. I started pulling events from everywhere I could find them. Local venues, community calendars, organizer pages, neighborhood groups, word of mouth. Every week I gathered them up, sorted them out, and shared them in one easy place. What began as a helpful habit turned into a mission: build the largest, most complete things to do resource in the area, so nobody ever has to miss a single event again.
What we cover
Things To Do covers Ocala and the surrounding communities of North Central Florida, including:
- Ocala and Marion County
- Gainesville and Alachua County
- Belleview and the surrounding small cities
- Citrus County
- The Villages
From live music and festivals to farmers markets, family events, fundraisers, outdoor adventures, and everything in between, if it is happening and it is worth knowing about, we want it on the list. Our weekly coverage spans the full range of local life: weekend concerts, holiday celebrations, charity galas, food truck rallies, art walks, car shows, equestrian events, nature outings, and plenty of free family fun.
How listings are curated
Every week I personally review event listings from dozens of sources across the region. I check dates, times, locations, and details so what you see is accurate and current. Events are organized by week and by area, so you can quickly find what is happening near you without scrolling through things three counties away.
We do not list everything blindly. Each listing gets a human look before it goes up. If details are unclear, I track down the organizer or the venue to confirm. The goal is simple: when you make plans based on our calendar, you can trust what you read.
Our events site is refreshed every week with the newest listings, and the lineup changes constantly as new events are announced. Checking back regularly is the best way to stay in the loop, because there is always something new being added.

The Facebook community
Things To Do is also home to a thriving Facebook community of around 37,000 local members who share events, ask for recommendations, and help each other find things to do. It is one of the most active local event communities in the region, and it is where a lot of our best event tips come from. Real people sharing real plans. If you are on Facebook, come join the conversation.
Submit an event
Hosting something? We want to hear about it. Anyone can submit an event for consideration through the Submit an Event button on our site. Just share the who, what, when, and where, and we will take a look. Community submissions are one of the biggest reasons our calendar stays so complete, so never assume we already know about your event. Send it in.
